Walking Along

I am walking along
the ground does not give way,
I remember a day I wish would go away,
I remember a pain when the world looked the other way,
only when it rains death,
only when it rolls in on a political wing of pain do we seem to look and care,
but the quiet abuse is the worst.
the secret blows and defeating words that destroy a sense of humanity,
but these are the ones most easily ignored,
most easily pushed aside,
most easily trivialized.
No noticeable bomb ever landed on my life,
only the quiet camouflaged kind that can end a life but leave no trace.
I am walking along…..walking and walking and walking….
